about

Recorded and released in 2001 as part of Jon Mueller's "Folktales" series on Crouton, this is the last in a trilogy of improvised solo soprano saxophone "suites" (The Withered Grasses, 6 Standing Desert, Sweet Sonk) that mix cut-up style extended technique playing with microtonal melodic pieces. This one has the most brutally sliced and economical percussive work combined with a drawn-out "song" that makes the rest of the pieces cry.
